With a radius of 909 Solar Radii, it is one of the largest known stars and one of the most historically important stars ever. It was first known as BD-12\u00b05055 when it was first cataloged in 1860. In 2012, it was found that the star had a radius of over 1,708 Solar Radii, making it the largest star at the time.
